Nick Ward for 48th Ward Alderman Earns Key Endorsement from Asian American Midwest Progressives

Edgewater, Chicago, IL -- Candidate for 48th Ward Alderman Nick Ward announced an endorsement from Asian American Midwest Progressives (AAMP).

AAMP joins a growing list of organizations and elected officials that are supporting Ward in the 2023 election because they understand he is the candidate most committed to working people in Chicago. He is endorsed by the Illinois Nurses Association, Cook County College Teachers Union, the independent political organization 48th Ward Neighbors for Justice, Chicago Democratic Socialists of America, Northside Democracy for America, and Alderman Daniel La Spata. Ward entered the race for 48th Ward Alderman in January 2022 and has since raised over $123,000 and knocked over 16,000 doors.

“In a crowded field of 48th Ward candidates, Nick stood out to our Asian American Midwest Progressives leaders because of his strong grassroots campaign, diverse coalition of support, and compelling progressive policy platform, which included thoughtful proposals to address the needs of the Asian American community,” said AAMP Executive Director Grace Pai.

Ward said of AAMP’s endorsement: “I’m honored to receive an endorsement from AAMP. I am excited to work with AAMP to deliver critical resources to the Asian American Pacific Islander community in the 48th Ward, including increasing language access, combating anti-Asian violence and hate speech, supporting small businesses and cultural organizations, and ensuring affordability.”

AAMP builds political power through collective advocacy and electoral organizing to achieve racial equity. AAMP has also endorsed incumbent aldermen Andre Vasquez (40) and Matt Martin (47) and aldermanic candidates Denali Dasgupta (39), Angela Clay (46) and Mueze Bawany (50).

Nick Ward is a community organizer, artist, renter, and restaurant worker. He is running for 48th Ward Alderman to fight for a Chicago where every resident has the resources they need to thrive.
